Default Monday Selections 4/16/07

RECORD (9-8) (+362) TONIGHTS SELECTIONS BELOW

FLORIDA (6 - 5) at HOUSTON (4 - 6)

Monday, 4/16/2007 8:05 PM
ANIBAL SANCHEZ (R) vs. WANDY RODRIGUEZ (L)

Not sure what the linesmakers are looking at in this one to post such a cheap price, but, I will take it.

This season the Astros are averaging a very low BA of .224 and OBP of .270 at home through 6 games averaging just 2.7 runs. An anemic offense to say the least. The Marlins are sending Venezuelan Anibal Sanchez to the mound seeking his 2nd straight win this season. Sanchez threw a great game against the ASTROS last season, allowing only 2 hits through seven innings. The only offensive bright spot for Houston against the Marlins has been Berkman who has a +.300 BA with 11 homers and 38 RBIs. We catch Berkman in a bad spot tonight as he is in the midst of a slump producing only 2 hits over his last 5 games.

As for the Marlins tonight they are facing lefty Wandy Rodriguez who had a decent last out giving up only 3 runs against the Cardinals. Florida is one of the few teams that enjoy facing leftys averaging 6.3 runs, a near .300 BA and a .350 OBP. Matching up the bullpens is a no-contest also, as the STROS close out unit has been HORRID giving up 13 runs over 14 innings of work at home! The Marilins bullpen has been decent with an average WHIP of 1.260 on the road.

I look for Anibal to go deep into the game, 7 or better against a struggling Houston offense tonight and get the (W).

Selection on the FLORIDA MARLINS +100

Selection on SAN DIEGO PADRES +110

Looking for the PADRES to continue dominance over the CUBS as last season the Padres swept all 7 games including 2 SHUT OUTS! Padres pitcher Hensley is looking to get his first win here tonight and should as he threw a GEM of a game last season against the Cubbies; a 2 hitter. I can see an offensive explosion for the Padres tonight after a nationally televised low output last night.

Good Luck!
