Maryland +17.0 over West Virginia….
Can’t put much weight on the stats from the first two games that these two played so far this season…both played patsy opponents and both struggled at times against the weaker teams. This game has turned into somewhat of a rivalry since the hiring of two quality coaches in 2000…Maryland has won 4 or the last 7 but WVA has reeled off 3 straight wins (SU). Maryland is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 against WVA. The somewhat poor performance by Maryland last week against FIU I believe can be attributed to the look ahead to this weeks game. Last year the Mountaineers embarrassed the Terps racking up a 28-0 score in the 1st quarter. Terps did come back in the 2nd half and outscored them 24-17 to end up losing the game 45-24. Revenge is on their minds, especially playing in front of their home crowd.
Nobody will contain the the WVA running game, however if any team matches up well it is Maryland. They have nearly an all veteran defense with good size and speed, they have held their last 3 opponents to under 100 yards rushing. This may not happen tonight, but they will be competitive enough to not allow a runaway game on the ground. Not looking at an upset here, but definitely looking at a competitive game that can keep this margin of victory at least under 2 TD’s
