Sidenote-I expect to receive very soon my annual promo from Royal Sportsbook offering all kinds of free service,5*'s GOY'S, etc. from Northcoast if I send money to them(Royal Sportsbook). Its interesting that an allegedly honorable man like Phil would align himself in this manner;could there possibly be something in it for him? Don't think too hard. Of course, NEVER forget that Phil always tells the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me- Stu Feiner, Johnny Demarco, Jack Price.

Royal sports is bad news. The owner has his bodyguards beat up employees. The latest news on them.
Three players, each with five-figure balances, slow-paid for over one month. Two of these bettors tell SBR that previous payouts have been weeks apart and for less than the requested amount. SBR to speak with management on the players’ behalf.

Wow!-Now I am even more suspicious of the relationship between Northcoast and Royal.

The pick today is a 4* from Billy Coleman on UNDER Detroit(the same as yesterday).

If nothing else, I hope this thread points out to you the spinning mastery and lack of the whole truth as told by Phil Steele.
If you go back and check this thread, you will see that there have been a few nice winning streaks along the way, which have been played to the hilt by Mr. Steele.
If you look at the entire record however, you will see it is 46.8%, hardly a profitable venture;one could expect to hit 50% by flipping a coin.
Unfortunately, the way in which Phil runs his comp. line is a microcosm as to how he runs it during the football season, telling half truths and only talking about the various clubs, time frames, etc. which put him in a favorable light.
The most likely time Phil will talk about a "loser(s)" is say if he has a good day and goes 6-2 overall.
One of the reasons why Phil is so successful is that he is able with his various techniques to always project that he is doing well and thus to dupe the public.
If nothing else, I hope that those of you who have taken the time to read this thread will remember some of above come football season;everyone has winning streaks, AND everyone has losing streaks. If a service for whatever reason does not talk about each equally and honestly, well then the next move is up to you in deciding whether they are the type of service with which you want to deal.
ps Read post #121 if you have not already regarding integrity.

Comp. wins-38-42-1.
Pick today is a 4* from Scott SPRITE zer on UNDER in the Yankee game.
He says you can get a free susbscription to PowerSweep if you sned $500 or more to Millenium Sportsbook. A conflict of interest perhaps? Well at least he is not mentioning that hideous Royal Sportsbook for now anyways.

Comp. loses 38-43-1. No mention. Instead in true Phil spinning style he says that comp. today will be from Billy Coleman who has won his last 4 comp. picks. You NEVER hear the REAL comp. record as shown here which is under 500, only Phil's spin on things to give impression it is much better as shiwn just today by taling about Billy Coleman.
The play today is a 3*from Coleman on OVER KC.

ps If the College Football Preview Magazine is not enough for you, Phil says that coming to a newsstand near you soon will be your regional Preview Magazine with SIX pages on every team in your region.
ps if you are like me and think there is such a thing as overkill, you might want to consider investing in one of these these for a short term solution for insomnia.
Seriously, could someone who buys one of these tell me what is contained in 6 pages abou every team in a region-what each player likes to eat, how many bowel movements each has on an average in a given day, information about his iq, parents, girlfriend, what kind of childhood he had, what he got for grades in 4th grade as well as in college, what book he read last, his favorite tv show, or what???

Savage,

I purchased the magazine and it's a handicapper's dream. I've been updating my database with the information contained in it and it's going to be extremely helpful this season. Just learning about the high school recruits and turnover ratio on each team is great; then, he has pages and pages with various trends and systems which have proven successful over the years.

I would never invest on Bowling Green or UBA without knowing what I know now. It's money well spent, trust me. That is, for serious handicappers who have databases and extensive notes and information regarding each of the teams.

I don't know Phil Steele. All I know is that the information in that magazine is the best on the market. I make my own picks and investments and don't buy services. Steele's college football mag is #1 by far. I can't wait for the season to start.

One suggestion to the members here:

Stop buying services and start investing in handicapping material to improve your success rate. Consider statfox.com, Steele's college football magazine, Murray's baseball book, covers.com, and the resources available on professionalgambler.com.

For educational purposes, dr.bob is not a bad handicapper to follow and to learn from. He has helped me over the years.

Stop hating; start learning. It takes a lot of time and energy, trust me. But, it sure beats praying that Wayne Root's No Limit pick is going to win.

Just my opinion.

One more comment:

Read every book written by Bob McCune. That was my starting point and his books contain a wealth of information.

Take control of your money; stop buying these damn picks. You can do better, trust me. I've made a lot of money over the past 2 years by taking destiny into my own hands.

Stop hating! Put your anger towards winning by doing your own work.

Oskeim-I appreciate your take and comments. Who can argue with you especially about doing your own research based on whatever works for you and making your own picks?
ps I have one question that I asked earlier: Do You personally buy the regional magazines also(the ones with 6 pages on each team), and if so, do you think that most of the material contained on each of those 6 pages rally does have a bearing on say a game played in November when perhaps there are more relevant factors involved, namely how the team has been playing of late and in general for the season?

First, I want to thank you for running this site. You do an excellent job.

I post my picks on statfox.com in a daily thread entitled "Major League Baseball **TOP PLAYS**. The title is followed by that day's particular date. My forum name is Oskeim.

You can find my NBA record for the season on the forum as well. I update my record on a daily basis. Over approximately 200 selctions, I won 63% of my selections. To date, my baseball record is 48-39-0 (+11.03 units). Frankly, I had a tough month of May.

There are some excellent cappers on that site. Check out msudogs, player, bigdadi, shadow, jkaul and others. It's not a tout site; you can't buy picks.

I will say this:

While a membership to statfox and their database of information, which is the best on the internet, is a vital part to my handicapping, just reading the daily threads of the members in the forum serves valuable. Believe me when I say that you will win money if you follow msudogs, player, shadow and bigdadi. And, a member by the name of Rdtrains is one of the forum's best. He is outstanding.

Just wanted your members to be aware of this resource. It sure beats following or fading some of these lousy cappers like Root and Feist.

Thanks for that Oskeim. I just signed up and will be looking for the picks from the guys you cited including you.
ps thanks for the kudos also for this thread;it really isn't that difficult other than having to listen to a 5 minute mantra from Phil every day.
Also, I guess you decided not to use Root any more, correct? You did post his plays for a while. Would it be safe to assmue that overall what you got did not justify the cost?

Comp. loses-now 38-45-2. NO MENTION of the loss as usual from "The Sounds of Silence"- Phil Steele.
The comp. today is a 4* from Billy Coleman on UNDER Minnesota/Texas.

Comp. wins. 39-45-1.
Today's comp. is from Phil himself and it is to bet(if you can get a line) that his College Football Preview Magazine is the best/most comprehensive publication of its kind ever in the entire universe and since the beginning of time.

Back to business. Someone else is doing the comp. phone today but with the same tired speech/commercial used by Phil.
The pick is a 3* from Mater Sports on UNDER in the Reds game.

Sorry for such a delay in posting about an old post, been on vacation a couple of weeks.

I am 90% positive that Steele only was connected with Royal one year. He had been connected with Millennium, left them to go to Royal, found out they are a crooked sportsbook, and went back to Millennium. What ATSTalk posted is correct about Royal.

You are not quite correct;I received the promotional material from Royal BOTH in August of 2005 and 2004 with the ties to Northcoast. You could be correct about the total affiliation being around year, but as stated he definitely had ties with them for at least two years(I actually posted in both years in another forum that I had received material from Royal in both the years cited).
ps Thank god for his sake he no longer has ties to them.
