Both games LOSE, bringing record to 113-91-3.
Beginning on Tuesday, picks have gone 1-9 and would have been 0-10 barring a fluke comeback on a 3 run homerun in the last of the ninth on Friday by San Diego;the people who just started calling this week in anticpation of football are reeling big time;could this be the start of a "bear market" for the NC Comp. Line?? In true Phil Steele fashion he alludes to the 5* winner by Accupicks and diminishes fact that they lost all of the other plays(1-4 overall) meaning it was a LOSING day. The first play is a 3* from The "Coal Man" on UNDER Arizona. The other comp. is a 3* from Accupicks on Baltimore. |

Scott Spreitzer's RARE MLB Top Hammer Pitching Mismatch!
My Top Hammer is a play on the Pirates with Gorzelanny over Arroyo. The Reds will likely need plenty of runs to stay close in this one...and they're not likely to get many, even after busting out the last two nights. After all, Cinci scores an average of just over 3.5 RPG in road day games against southpaws. Tim Gorzelanny takes the bump for the Bucs. He continues to pitch extremely well at PNC. In 10 home games this season, the lefty owns a 3.04 ERA & 1.15 WHIP. Meanwhile, Arroyo is just 2-9 away from home this season and he's been smacked hard by the Pirates, with a 1-3 mark and a 5.43 ERA in four starts. The Cincinnati righty is also pitching on just three days rest. We'll back the Pirates to end Cinci's short win streak on Sunday. Thanks! GL! Scott. SCOTT SPREITZER SCOTT'S NFL PRESEASON TKO GAME OF THE MONTH! (261) NO Saints vs (262) PIT Steelers Game Starts at August 05 2007 17:00 EST Take (262) PIT Steelers I'm laying the short number with the Steelers on Sunday. New Orleans has already gone on record that this game will basically be nothing more than an audition for several players trying to make the roster. We already saw last season that HC Sean Payton doesn't put a lot of credence into winning preseason games. After winning in week one, the Saints lost the remainder of their preseason tilts by an average score of 22-10. Meanwhile, not only is Pittsburgh looking to get back to the postseason after missing out last year, but they have a new HC looking to develop team-confidence out of the gate. Look for the Steelers, in several great preseason situations, to come away with a decent-sized, Hall of Fame covering victory on Sunday. The Steelers are our TKO GOM. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scott Spreitzer's MLB Divisional Game of the Month! *13-1, 93%! I'm laying the price with the Indians on Sunday. Fausto Carmona has been putting up amazing numbers all season, including his starts against the Twins. He's won both outings against his Central Division opponent, holding Minnesota to just two earned runs and 14 base runners in 16 2/3 innings of work. Today, he's catching a Twins' offense that's hitting just .235 over the last week-plus. I also expect Carmona to receive plenty of run support in this one. The Indians have had very little trouble with Scott Baker. Hafner & Sizemore have punished the right-hander, and his career ERA against the Tribe is a hefty 5.47 in five starts. Along with their success against Baker, the Indians are in one of their top run-scoring situations in 2007. They're on the road against a right-handed starter, in day action. The Indians plate 5.2 RPG in this spot. Toss in the Twins over-worked bullpen over the last couple of games and we have a side that's ripe for a bust-out performance. We'll back the Cleveland Indians, our AL Central Game of the Month. |

Comps. win and are now 117-91-3 in baseball.
The first comp. is a 3* from Tom Striker(out) on OVER Yankees. The other comp. is a 3* from Young (Stud)Gun on 3* on Cleveland. My 5* is that NorthCoast revenues from all sources will be down bigtime this year because of last year's miserable season in football and because of Phil Steele's failure to ever admit it and instead to try to spin the record to give impression he won. |

Nice Day for Great Lakes as they lose all 3 big plays;customers are swimming in a lake of plenty of red ink today.
Comps. win and are now 119-91-3 in baseball. First comp. is a 3* from Triple Crud/Crown on UNDER Seattle. The other comp. is from the "snake man" Sean Hisssssss and is a 3* on Minnesota on the run line. |

Cal Sports
5* Detroit Red Dog 5* Detroit Accu-Picks 4* Yankees 3* Clev 3* Detroit Scott Spreitzer's American League GOM! *14-2, 88% GOM Run! My AL GOM is a play on the Indians. White Sox righty Jon Garland has been giving up runs 'o plenty. It all started with his July 6 outing, allowing 11 ER in 3 1/3 IP in a 20-14 loss to the Twins. Since then, and including that game, Garland has been smacked for 33 ER & 65 BR in just 29 2/3 IP. That's a pathetic 10.00 ERA & 2.19 WHIP. Even when we take out the July 6 start, Garland still owns a 7.53 ERA & 1.94 WHIP in his last five starts. It doesn't help that he's facing the Indians. Cleveland has whipped Garland throughout his career. Meanwhile, C.C. Sabathia has no such trouble with the White Sox, including a 2.70 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and .198 BAA in 10 starts at U.S. Cellular Field. The big southpaw has shut the Sox down in both meetings this season. He's also allowed just seven ER and 31 BR in his last four starts, overall, spanning 26 2/3 IP. Jake Westbrook ate a ton of innings (8 full) last night for the Tribe, just one night removed from Paul Byrd's complete game. I expect more of the same from Sabathia. And, if needed, we've got a well-rested bullpen behind him. The Indians are my AL GOM. Thanks! GL! Scott. |

Oh yes-I almost forgot.
During his spiel for the coming football season, Phil mentioned today that Executive Service is $3750 for football season with special bonuses if you sign up today. Think of it-his NFL Late Phones last year were a deplorable 32.7% and his college football not much better, and this guy expects someone to fork over nearly 4k. Am I missing something? |

Northcoast = Marquee Under Dallas
We might as well have the actual plays of NC also. Perhaps once football gets into full swing, we ought to have a separate thread to post all of the actual late phone services from NC as they are released or at least have them posted here as well as on the regular service thread;having a separate thread would sure as heck make the plays easier to find than to have to keep scrolling through all of the plays of other services on the main thread to find those of NC. This is just an idea. |

The charge of $3750 for Executive Service kind of reminds me of a lawyer my brother and I just fired for asking for an exorbitant amount to do our inheritance for our recently deceased mother.
This lawyer like Phil has a totally inflated opinion of himself and his worth. Based on last season's dismal 32.7%record and the fact that all of his stuff is posted for free, the value of his Executive Service is ZERO. ps in the case of my mom we found a competent lawyer who did the same work for about 25% of what first guy was asking for;the first lawyer wanted a percentage of the value of the estate(pretty high) irrespective of how much work he had to do-that was totally unacceptable to my brother and me. The same principle applies here-believe me if you want a service for the season, you can find want infinitely better than NC for a fraction of what that idiot is asking. |

Comps split and are now 121-93-3.
Phil talks about Coleman's 5* win on Dallas but conveniently leaves out that if you played ALL of his picks(see post 660), you lost money! The first comp. is from the "Coal Man"nd is a 3* on UNDER Angels. The other comp. is a 3* From Triple Crud/Crown on OVER cubs. It should be noted on ext. #9 Phil spends the entire tape except for comp. extolling the virtues of his own services, while on ext. 4 he does promos for all15 members of the NC Community Line;the total time to receive both comps. is an agonizing almost 14 minutes. I can't believe that Phil doesn't realzie that after 2-3 minutes people are bored, tune him out and even go out and do some chores and then just wait for the comp. plays. |
