I wouldn't be surprised if Stern himself bet on some of the games based on "inside information" and is now trying to cover up his own tracks.

IMO he is one of the worst commissioners in any sport ever.
He worries about and fines players for criticizing the refs, makes a big deal about HIS(rather than the team's) dresscodes and treats the players like babies while a full blown scandal is going on write under his nose.
ps In addition I am quite sure that in so many words Stern himself "advises" the refs to call important and key games both during the regular season and playoffs a certain way for tv ratings.

these oversized, overpaid athletes are babies, and need to be monitored at all times because they are out of control. Stern has turned a league that was close to losing alot of fans into the second biggest sport in the world behind soccer. Savage i read alot of your posts and you are ususally on point but i must disagree with you on this one. to say he is a worse commissioner than selig and the guy in hockey who slips my mind is crazy. Dress codes are important. I don't know if your a father but i am and u can't have kids looking up to these guys. at least if they look presentable maybe they will act a little more grown up. Most of these guys in basketball are still kids and need some sort of guidelines.

Fine, but let the teams set the rules;they are the ones who pay the players;why should the standards of one man(Stern) be forced on everyone?

There can be only 1 boss right or wrong that is just how it works by letting the teams set the rules your basically letting the inmates run the asylum

I disagree.if the players dictated to the owners what the dress codes and rules should be, then I could see your point.
Take baseball as an example-while playing for Red Sox, Johnny Damon had quite a bit of facial hair, wouldn't you say?
While playing for Yanks, Georgie made him shave it all off.
I say same should apply in the NBA;let the owners decide what is good for their own teams and fans;afterall they have a vested financial interest in the matter.

Knuckles-I think you are right on with your analysis;I think Stern is as slcik as he come, and frankly I think a lot of what he does is a smokescreen to divert attention away from the more serious stuff od which he may even be a part.
