Default MLB - May 12, 2008

May 12th, 2008

MLB 2008
Bankroll: $8037 -19.63%
Yesterday: -$99

Record: 156-184 -22.36 units
Yesterday: 3-4 -0.87 units

Straights: -$2236

Parlays: 4-100 +$261
(Apr2 5-teamer $5 wins $263)
(Apr8 4-teamer $5 wins $97)
(May7 6-teamer $5 wins $255)
(May8 3-teamer $5 wins $29)

The week finished with a whimper as the bankroll dropped $99 after a 3-4 day. Four of the plays were scratched (3 by postponement and 1 due to a pitching change after a lengthy rain delay) so there is really no telling how the day would have played out under normal circumstances. Felt fortunate to finish with a Twins win to keep the damage to a minimum. Winning plays for Sunday were Kansas City, Florida, and Minnesota while the losing plays were the Angels, the White Sox, Philadelphia, and Dodgers -1.5.

Monday starts a new week and for the first time in awhile I am coming off a winning week. The bankroll grew by about $800 last week on the shoulders of a +$978 effort on Wednesday. Would love to have another big hitting day during the week....that would certainly be encouraging and a welcome. Most certainly felt as though my read on the games vastly improved as even the losing days contained minimal losses and the make or break games come have easily went either way. All in all last week was needed and the plays managed to show some signs of producing.

Hot team in MLB at this point would be the Florida Marlins who have been the winner of seven straight games and hold a 3 game cushion in NL East with a very solid 23-14 record. Most impressive about the Marlins is the fact they have been equally effective on the road as they have been at home (Home record 12-9 while they are a robust 11-5 when travelling).

Marlins open a series with the Reds today after completing a sweep of the Nationals with a come from behind 5-4 win on Sunday. Marlins will send Badenhop to the mound to oppose Harang for the Reds. Neither of these guys has looked sharp to start the season and Harang specifically has been a huge disappointment after being pretty solid in 2007.

Marlins are 2-3 in the 5 starts of Badenhop and he hasn't went more than 6 innings of any of his efforts....pretty much will be looking for the bullpen to finish off the job in this one (and they have looked good the past week).

The Reds are 3-5 in the 8 starts of Harang who hasn't pitched terribly, but at the same time he has been dominate enough to secure wins for his club. Last home start for Harang he allowed 3 runs to the Cubs when 1 run would have been too many as the Cubs shutout the Reds 3-0.

Price for a sizzling hot team is way too high even if you consider they are sending a mediocre at best pitcher to the hill. Reds are only 8-9 at home and nothing at this point tells me they are going to suddenly start pounding out runs in this game. Taking the Marlins to continue their winning ways for hopefully one more day.

Florida Badenhop +162(5Dimes)
100 to win 162

BEST OF LUCK to everyone and here's to starting the week off on a winning note
